iv got a 2009 1.4 fiesta titanium and im getting sick of spending half the time in the petrol station 300 miles to a full tank which is costing £50 to £55 my self i think its shocking and its not down to driving style as i tried a eco run for a full tank and got 305 miles and driving like a normal tool i got 300 so hows that work!

Ouch.. I'm getting 500+ miles for a full tank (last fill up was when the 50 miles chime came on, 507 miles the trip read) for a 1.6, I thought the 1.4 was better mpg wise?

would it be worth resetting the ecu and giving it a drop of redx as it was a 2nd hand car covered 19k when i picked it up and i do drive it quite hard might be worth doing i think they did give it a full service before i picked it up but i dont trust them at all

Yeah probably, I use some sort of cleaner once every 10k miles on all of my cars that I've had, give it a service if you're a little worried (or do a self-service if it's not due). Once the cleaner's in, give it some going, drive hard where possible and get it cleaned out nicely, should be fine afterwards really. With the 1.4, be gentle on the acceleration for economy and I've found if I shift at the light, I'm on 56mpg, if I shift at ~1,500 - 1,600rpm, I'm laughing on 65 all day long. That said, mine's a 1.6 so has enough power down there to get it moving.

and its not down to driving style

and i do drive it quite hard

Well there's you problem ;) You're getting 36-39mpg which I don't find unreasonable for a 1.4. My 1.4 MK6.5 constantly gave 40mpg.

The 1.6 has the best fuel economy of all the petrol engines, probably because the others are too weedy to get the car moving. I'm getting over 45mpg and that's with the odd blast around country roads :)

i may take it to a friend and have them no a little mini service on it just so it makes me feel better really, wish i waited for a 1.6 now, i cant see how driving like my granddad will give me 305 then driving like i stole it 300 miles, maybe its time i trade it in all ready for some thing a little better on fuel.
