Fan Kicking It Alot

Featured Replies

with all this hot weather i have noticed that the fan seems to be kicking in alot to stop it from over heating i could be stopped at traffic lights and the fan kicks, then i drive off stop again and the fan kicks in again :s anyone notice this or is my car feeling sick?

Sounds very good doesn't it >_> makes it sound like it's on it's last legs, mine's done it once or twice on motorway runs, pretty sure unless warning lights are flashing in your face it's nothing to be worried about.

It's probably because you have the EATC on Auto, so the air conditioning is constantly going on and off.

The fan is also used to cool the air conditioning condenser matrix which gets hot ("carries" the heat from the cabin to the condenser)

Of topic slightly, but does anyone else find it annoying that the AC automatically comes on when you turn the vent direction dial to windscreen?

on a motorway run there should be enough airflow through the radiator to cool it...how do you know it kicks in on motorway runs? i would have thought the road noise would drown it out?

My house is 30 seconds from the Motorway, so that's how I tell as it's still going when I park up :P

Hi

Might sound silly are you happy the coolant level is correct ?

If so a quick check maybe after a drive so its up to operating temp to try this

With your AC off and bonnet up to reduce your under bonnet temp then the fan shouldnt be in much but if it cuts in and then out ,then everything is working properly

be careful you arent wearing a tie leaning over a running engine !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And yes I find it annoying that the AC is on when you select the screen on the dial

Hope it helps Paul,

Hi The DPF will make the fan come on when it is on regen.(even on the motorway)but should only happen every 1000 miles or so.
