Folding Mirrors

I have a 2010 Fiesta Titanium with the mirrors set to fold when I lock the car with the remote, this it does. But recently it's started folding the mirrors when I stop the engine and remove the key, sometimes locking the doors as well! It's a bit embarrassing and potentionally dangerous. Anyone got any ideas, I've just been living with it for now, meaning to mention it on my next visit to my local Ford dealer in Leeds.

The car should fold the mirrors when the door locked if it's set to "link to lock" in the menu system. You could try disabling that to see if it's a problem in the locking system and the car is correctly folding the mirrors, or is to do with the mirror folding side.

Have you tried using the other fob key to see if it's the fob randonmly tranmitting, it may be as simple as a overly sensative or faulty contact in the fob sending the lock signal out when touched.

If you disable the link to lock and the mirrors don't fold but the car still locks then the central locking or the keyfob is at fault. IF the mirrors sill fold it could be something else.

Occasionally I hit lock when I pull the key out which causes the car doors to lock on me too..

That's what I was thinking. Either you're squeezing the key when turning/removing it and locking the car, or fault with the fob.

I would also agree that it's mostly likely a faulty fob (try using your spare instead for a while and see if the problem goes away) or that it's user error/fat fingers (sorry!).

Thanks for the replies guys, I haven't got a second fob! I didn't get one when I bought the car, just a spare key. Amyhow, in future I'll have to be very careful when I stop and turn the key to make sure I'm not inadvertantly pressing the fob button. If that's the case, problem solved, you'll hear no more from me on this one. If not, watch this space.
