Mk7 Ford Fiesta - Electrical Problems - Help!

Featured Replies

Wondering if anyone can help with a rather weird (and probably soon to be quite expensive) problem I'm having?

Car is a 2008 Ford Fiesta Titanium. I first started noticing something wrong a few days ago.

- The climate control would keep turning off (i.e. fans off, nothing on the display) and then turning on for a split second or two, then off again. It gave me the impression of a loose connection somewhere.

- The indicators worked as normal, but there was no 'tick tock' sound and no repeaters in the dash.

- The 'headlights on' light in the dash didn't work, but the headlights worked fine.

- The car unlocked itself a couple of times when left unattended, having been locked.

- The clock froze at whatever time it was set at and didn't move on.

- The radio wouldn't turn on or off with the engine. It had to be done manually, but worked fine otherwise.

- Now it won't start. Checked the battery with a multimeter and it's flat, sitting at 7.5v.

Any ideas what would cause this weird set of symptoms?

All fuses are intact.

I want to try and eliminate as many things as possible before handing it over to a garage to diagnose otherwise I can see it costing lots!

Thanks!

Andy.
