ronalex
I have what sounds like a leak on the high pressure side of the turbo on a diesel. What are the ramifications of running with this leak and any vague ideas what it might be?
ajt
Loss of power, reduced mpg. Probably split on elbow of intercooler inlet pipe (trubo to intercooler). About £75 ish or £110ish depending on which one you have.
ronalex
Does not seem to effect power or mpg. It is only a pronounced whoosh under hard acceleration. Its an 06 Titanium estate.
Mike77
Deffo tend to agree with the previous advice,, I had the same wooshing noise on a passat tdi, with no affect to the performance 'for a while' until one day the pipe connecting to the intercooler let go, THEN I noticed the performance drop, effectively cutting off the feed to the turbo. It was like driving an old non turbo diesel, no power at all. The noise your hearing really sounds like a split hose/pipe. And will eventually let go.......
