Fiesta Mk5 Help Bleeding Coolant

Featured Replies

Hello, first post.

Could anyone help me, the engine coolant level on my Mk5 1.3 flight is at Min or just below and i want to change it for new stuff. How do i go about draining it and then filling it up again?

I gather that there's a plug or screw underneath the radiator, do I just pull this out with a container underneath and flush with water? or does the engine need to be on?

I've picked up a 1l bottle of coolant from halfords for adding new mix, duno if thhis will be enough? Hope this doesn't require a hose pipe because we've still got hose pipe ban here, also is it wise to get some radflush?

Sorry for so many questions, not that clued up on servicing a vehicle

Hi I think you are best just to top it up to the full mark (if it's not bust dont fix it)if no drain plug you will have to take off the bottem hose.

For draining, your best bet is to disconnect the radiator bottom hose. it would be best if you could flush the radiator through with a hose to remove any crud but obviously you might be restricted with this. Its not essential but it does help.

Dont know how many litres your system holds but 1 litre will not be enough to drain and refill as its normally mixed 50/50
