Thanks Lenny Mate, yeah did them myself. I think they look well alright I was trying to do like the st ones first by masking some of the ridges but didnt turn out as nice so decided to paint them all. Next stopo is trying to get the side bump strips off, i dunno how theyll come off without breaking tho

when removing them are you planning to ReFit them again or keep them off the car?

if your planning to keep them off then i would use an old sock, a hair dryer and some petrol,

not all at the same time though lol

heat the strip with the hairdryer and it will come off easily, start at one edge and work your way along gently heading and pulling.

then wax the area with petrol on a cloth or sock to remove the spoge sticky pad that was holding them there,

now if you plan to refit them, then the above method will not leave this possible.

but i have found a new set very cheap on ebay that you could replace them with.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-FOCUS-2004-11-SIDE-DOOR-TRIM-PROTECTION-MOULDINGS-/330725281427?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4d00c34e93

ive removed side strips before when i had a 3 door toyota starlet i removed the side strips making the car easier to wax, but im not sure if the side strips on the focus also have some plastic plugs holding them in to place or if it is just the sponge.

in my case with the starlet it was just sponge, but on the 5 door starlet it had some plastic plugs.

not a problem if you have new ones to replace them with though.

Thanks Lenny mate, I was planning to refit them alright because want to colour code them. Thought I could just take them off and put back on easy enough :( but sure not to worry will be easier as i can have them sprayed and all and then take off old ones :D

What are you doing to ur back bumper mate?

Nice one.

ive gone for the less is more type of look with the focus, and using coca-cola bottles as fog and reverse light housings lol i removed the rear bumper to give the body shop somthing to match the colour too when spraying the parts,

ive to leave the car with them on friday and picking it up next sunday, getting a zetec s body kit fitted to it so it should look like this.

cheers mate,

the wing mirror covers will be a tricky one to wrap mate the way they fold, but their may be some sort of carbon wrap that is in a sort of bowl shape to prevent so may creases when trying to curve it to shape,

and if i was you id go for the silver alloys mate, to keep the contrast right with the carbon wing mirrors and silver alloys always look great rolling at 25kmh.

are you going for the 18'' or 19'' RS style rim, and are you lowering it on 45mm springs?

  • Author

@ Lenny cheers mate the silver i was thinkn alright. Im goin to get the 18" RS style mate. Dont know about lowering it yet wouldnt be that good with the doin that.

@Stoney Good man thanks will have a look mate

DMB graphis can make some centre cap covers to suit your need too, so they would have ford printed on them no problem and regarding lowering it, i suppose wait and see how it looks with the 18'' wheels fitted, if their is a large gap in the top of the arches then you would be able to lower it and it would be the same height then as it currently is now.

and when fitting 18's you will need to purchase some steering rack limiters to stop the wheel from rubbing the inside of the arch.

its a geniune ford part

http://www.fordonlineparts.co.uk/product/Ford_Focus_Steering_rack_limiter_(required_only_with_18%22_wheels)_-_2008_onwards_-_1342639_F1342639-128

and shop around for your alloys too.

i purchased some wolf race wheels and tyres from the uk for my previous car on ebay for 150euro cheaper than i could get them off John Bass tyres in gorey. for the very same wheels and that was including the postage cost i saved 150.

Im going getting them from alloy-wheels.ie they are based in dublin, they are half the price of sheridans and tom gerathys here in waterford. They are €470 for set of 18" without tyres. No probs mate will have a look wen i have them fitted :-)

  • Author

Also Lenny will those limiters fit my car since mine is 07 it says 08 onwards?

thats a very good price for 18'' rims

and you could carry a can of foam or purchase a ford compressor kit instead of the space saver wheel because it wouldnt fit along with 3 other 18'' wheels in the event of a puncture so no point in carrying extra weight that is no use to you, and the geniune ford compressor kit is around 50-70 euro and their is a holder available for it that replaces the spare tyre well area.

Also Lenny will those limiters fit my car since mine is 07 it says 08 onwards?

perhaps their is a different model for the 2005-2008 model but the chassie and frame is the same from 2005-2011 the only difference is they changed the panels so my arches and your arches are all the same size, but if you email ford on the link they will advise you better on it. and im not sure where they fit neither but ford are generally goos with instructions on ther additional parts.

I havent got the windows tinted on the focus yet mate,

but i plan to go to www.atint.ie he done my last car and is 100% quality cost me 180euro for all the rear windows,

but i was thinking of doing the front and back on the focus maybe 30% or whatever the legal limit is on the front ones.

he lives out the carnew road. but he also does a mobile tinting service if your interested give him a call mate no bubbles in them at all

Yeah I probably will mate yeah because there was a lad in waterford called tint-ur-ride he was very good aswell he didy last one but is closed now so was going to get someone that is good at them will try them heard they have a great rep aswell thanks mate. Think the legal limit is 30% on front anyway

Just for your information lads, the factory tint is as dark as you can legally go on the front and windscreen. 30% as standard.

I know the Garda use the tintmaster system the same as NI and over here.

Thanks guys,

personally id like a dark smoke on the rear windows, not as dark as ford factory tint but a nice shade of dark,

i had limo tint on the starlet and i could hardly see out the rear window during the day lol way too dark for me.

  • Author

NIce one mate, the smoked windows will look the job :D

cheers,

what level of tint are you going for yourself mate,

and if you live in a hard water area, i recommend purchasing 20ltrs i.e. 4 5ltr bottles of cristal spring still water and give it to the guy when he is doing the tint because in hard water their is lime molicule crystals that will become trapped in the tint causing minute bumps in the tint that in a years time will tare the tint and cause it to flake. due to wiping the glass and pressing on the crystals.

i was told this by a guy who put mirror tints on a security cabbin in bray a few years back and he wouldnt use the local water supply to apply the tint. when we asked him why he wouldnt.

he then told us about the water hardness etc.

Go Lenny never thought of that mate thats a great point, was thinking of gettig two back windows and back windscreen smoke tinted
