Iphone 4 Issue

Featured Replies

I purchased a new fiesta in December as a second car. It has a usb port on the centre console and I was using it to play tracks from a usb stick. It works perfectly and allows me to scroll through albums.

After a few weeks, I tried plugging my IPhone 4S in to the usb port to see if I could select music in the same way via albums, artists etc. It worked perfectly and I could select by artist and album. However it only worked that one time. After I cut the engine and removed the phone, when I reconnected the phone, the display on the dash said Ipod initialising and since then I cannot select any albums or artists. It will only play from the very first song on the phone in alphabetical order. The arrow controls on the console will not allow me to navigate around the music collection.

I had not resynced with Itunes or changed the phone configuration. It was was only after driving in to town and cutting the engine and reconnecting the phone after disconnecting it that this problem has arisen.

I have tried 3 different usb cables, including a ford one and I tried 3 different iphones and I still have the same problem.

It works perfectly with my BMW's iDrive system.

I booked it in to my local ford dealer and they could find nothing wrong and said I had the lastest firmware upgrade. They told me that it must be the way that Itunes has configured my phone but thats rubbish because as I said earlier, the phone only worked once with the car and stopped functioning aftetr I disconnect the phone from the car.

Any ideas?

Many thanks

Might be worth you trying to do the upgrade yourself, theres a thread on here with the links to the files you need and the instructions of how to do it. Apparently that has sorted the issues that the 4S had connecting to the stereo...

Ford will have said you have the latest software to fob you off, they're all the same!

remember with the icloud when you charge your phone it create backups via the cloud and installs updates, you don't have to sync via the itunes directly anymore.

ofc this depends if you setup icloud.

also I had issues like that, I did the firmware update to the car myself and all is ok now.

Apologies guys. I should have searched the forum. I have now fixed the issue thanks to a post from someone who had the same issue.

The fix is to access the fusebox behind the glove compartment and remove the fuse for bluetooth/audio. Wait two minutes and refit the fuse.

Connect phone back using original usb cable and hey prestol!! Its working fine now. I can scroll through the phone as I did once before.
