Fiesta Zetec S Tdci High Mileage Help!

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I am just a newbie here, but I really need some help pretty please!

I am planning on buying a Fiesta Zetec S TDCI on Saturday but a friend is trying to put me off because of the high mileage!

It's a 2008 model and has 92000 miles on the clock because it was a driving school car.

So apart from the obvious (probably going to need a new clutch) is there anyone who can tell me if this a bad investment?

I have fallen in love with the car looks wise - but I am such a girl, I really don't want things to start going wrong with the car as soon as I have bought it! :(

Thanks in advance for the help :)

Mileage is nothing to worry about with diesel's, really it's just getting run-in :P but the fact it's an ex-driving school vehicle can be an off-putting point, I'd say get it independently inspected before buying (RAC, AA, etc).

Thanks Dave, that's reassuring. I am going to get a mechanic to come with me on Saturday to be on the safe side :D

Smart Lady

Always a good bargaining point too that it's been used for a driving school, if it's a good car then don't be off-put :P

Good thinking - going to have to be brave!!!!

What is you guys experience of the car then? Is it fast? I am driving a 97 VW Golf Cabriolet at the moment and it's gutless :(

Well fast I can't really say for sure but it pulls nicely, drives well on country roads and on motorways, fine in town; if you want more power a remap gets it going quite well for around the £300 - 400 mark.

Well had the car for almost a week and I absolutely love it. Best car I have ever driven. Plenty of poke in it - faster than I thought it was going to be in fact. Suspension is fantastic on the islands crappy roads. MPG is impressive even with my bad driving!!

Defo made the right decision - thanks for the input guys!

Did you get your iPod connection figured out?

Not yet. My stereo isn't the newer one with USB, it's a horrible Ford 6000cd. So for now I have my ipod plugged into the aux socket. Just means I can't skip tracks while driving - seriously annoying and is forcing me to have a proper ipod clear out later!! I can't skip that embarrassing song that comes on - you know just as you pull up at the traffic lights

I have ordered an adapter so I can plug my own Sony stereo in (the one I had in my prev car) and that has a USB so I can control my ipod through the stereo - I miss it lots :(

There's an app called Ford Dashboard available which allows you to swipe the screen to skip tracks and touch to pause/play.

It also has a nice ford logo on the background.

This may be of use to you until you get your adaptor.
