Black Things On A Bumper

Featured Replies

I apologise if anyone has some on their car but what are the black monstrosity rubber things that people keep putting on the front of their bonnet? Someone needs to tell them they rubbish!

Also what is the purpose of them? Other than spoiling the look of the car

Thanks

They're called bonnet bra I believe and they stop the bonnet getting stone chipped. I agree they look !Removed!. See them more and more nowadays.

Lmao  Some people need to get out more. Fair enough take pride in your car but you may as well start wrapping it up in bubble wrap if you're going to be doing things like that. I've had a few stone chips over the years but nothing that Meguiars Ultimate Compound and a chip stick can't get rid of

Surely they get stone chipped too? And anyway, aren't the bumpers hit more than the bonnet?

Yes exactly and if you think, the rest of the car is going to fade over time and the paint becomes dirtier etc then if you decide to take the mankini off you're going to have a car with tan lines..... :/

Bonnet Bras are an American thing that seems to have migrated over to the UK.

They do serve a purpose but like you say are very ugly.

It would be much easier to just use clear protective film.
