Hesitant Acceleration

Featured Replies

Hello all you clever people

my car has started to have a slight hesitation when accelerating (random)

seems worse when i change up to 3rd

everything is lovely when going at speed

sometimes i get a little burble ? from the exhaust when pulling away in 1st

the car is serviced regularly and i only ever put shell petrol in

it starts fine every time and idles smoothly

any ideas thanks guys n gals

oh yeah sorry its a mk1.5 on an 02 plate

What you describe sounds like a misfire. Check the plugs leads and ignition coil if you can

Hi thanks for the reply

If it was a misfire surely it would miss slightly on idle

But mine idles smooth the needle does not move

Thanks again

Faulty leads and coils tend to play up under load so idling doesn't always cause a problem.

I'd do the leads first and go from there.

just an update it started to idle lumpy today so i thought sod it and got some new plugs ,leads and air filter

leads were a little longer than the old ones though ? but everything seems fine now

runs smooth no hesitation so fingers crossed I've done it and saved myself a few quid

thanks for your help people

Hopefully you've nailed the problem down.

Keep us posted on the situation mate.
