Front Storage Compartment

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Managed to get around to doing a job last night which have been meaning to do for ages! As i don't have the USB/Aux port contained within the centre console, I have been wanting to conceal my 3.5mm aux cable behind the glovebox and through and down into the front storage compartment below the fan/heater controls so I can store my ipod and make controlling ipod easier. Hate having cables draped all over the cabin. Anyway I have managed to pop the cable down as far as I could, and this is now located from out below the heater controls! I really wanted to try and pull it through so it was located within the storage compartment but couldn't seem to remove this in order to thread cable through - not sure if this is poss or not? Does anyone know if this is removable or not, it seemed to have some movement on it but didn't want to force it too much in case I snapped anything!

I was impressed at how easy is was to remove the glovebox, stereo fascia.

okay cheers. will take a look later.

Also found this on ebay which looks like a good little mod. Not sure how I would provide the power to it though as it has MiniUSB connection and my Sony head unit doesn't have any connection on the rear apart from the loom and aerial! The install pictures show a different head unit to mine - think this is the standard bluetooth unit provided in the Zetec models.

This mod would be ideal though as not got deep enough pockets to start shelling out for anothe head unit etc....

The only way that socket will work as it is would be if you have a mini USB on the rear of the radio.

Other than that you could rewire the cable with a compatible c-block for the radio loom.

You'd be left with a useless USB socket on the front too.

There is this option -

Not sure that would work on mine. MIne is 2008 Mk2.5 with a Sony HU in it.

The quadlock (the big black connector block) is the same on the 2.5 so you'll have no compatability problems guaranteed.
