Usb Problems!

I am trying to get my ipod touch to work via my usb port. When I plug it in, it comes on to the screen that it is configuring. When I go to play it there is no sound but I can function the ipod via the car computer/stereo.

When I go into the list of different options in aux it comes up with usb and other things on the list but the usb one is faded slightly on the screen compared to the other options.

Are you just using the USB cable on your iPod and not the ford y cable if so you will also need a 3.5mm lead to go from your iPod to the headphone jack on the car

I thought since the latest USB update you could use the official Apple cable only making the Ford Y cable redundant?

Thank you, I didn't know this cable existed. Bit poor really, would of thought any ipod cable would of worked. Have ordered one off of Amazon :-). As my ipod touch is an older one, when I connect it to blutooth, I have to pair it every time which is annoying so thought the cable route would be easier.

If you follow guide here for installing USB update you shouldn't need the Y cable.

Is there any way of telling which software version you have?
