Fuel Guage Never Shows Full And Goes To Empty Fast

Featured Replies

Hi Dudes

My G/F has bought a 61 plate 1.25 Fiesta Zetec 82

The Fuel Guage doesent seem to be working properly.

I did a test via the secret menu and the guage does a full sweep.

When we fill the car up the guage shows Below Full

When we have covered around 100 miles it goes to below half.

I Banged the underneath of the tank and the guage temporarily went up.

What could be causing this and will it be easy to rectify.

Jamie

61 Plate? Get it booked into the dealer! Sounds like a dodgy sender unit connection which needs the tank lowering to access

If the gauge has tested OK it sounds like the gauge sender unit in the top of the tank is faulty. A 61 plate car should still be under warranty so time to complain!

EDIT: Darren beat me to it.
