    It may be they put some tape on it and its come off and is burning on the engine somewhere. You had best locate the split pipe and replace it. If its a vacuum pipe it is letting air into the intake system that is making it run far to lean and causing your revving issues.

    there was no tape put over it. the split was cut off and the pipe is ok.
