Mixing Semi Syn And Fully Synthetic Oil

Featured Replies

I spotted 4 litres of carlube which meets ford spec but it semi synthetic and I use fully as that's what's recommended but can you use semi for topping up .. just wondering if its ok to mix semi and fully synthetic oil ?

it was £7.50! down from £10 at my local tescos.

Probably not good practice to do it but I've done it many times and covered good miles with no issues

It's usually not recommended to mix fully synthetic and part synthetic.

yes as fully synthetic is a blended mixture of semi synthetic anyway

As confused as I was for breakfast this morning scrambled eggs or cornflakes took a whole 15 minutes debating with my self lol

sounds as if I'm best off not mixing. A few folks at works said it'll do no harm for topping up as its only small amounts going in with fully synthetic.

I'm just a sucker for a bargain.
