Front Fogs!

Featured Replies

This might be a really wierd question! But as well as my front fogs working independently can I wire them to also work on my high beam?? ( so when I flash people etc they come on! But stay working on ny originally switch?? ( a few cars ago did this bit didn't bother working out how)

But why?

Not sure why you would do this... You use high beams on say country roads and such so other drivers can see you coming from around the bend or so you can see that bit further, fog lights are well, for fog; use of fog lights other than in conditions under 100m of visibility is a no-no and gets you a nice bill off the police.

If I was driving down a dark country road with my hi beam on n saw amother car I would turn the highbeam off! So the fogs would go off too! N I mentioned having the fogs working independently for foggy conditions

Hi, forgetting the legalities for a moment, you could either use a relay or diode to achieve what you want.

Yeah but you wouldn't see Mr. Policeman hidden away who is bored that night :P

It's more for the flashing side, it'll look good

it'll look good

Afraid not, it screams "look at me, I've forgotten to turn my fog lights off!"

I agree that it is illegal to drive around with fogs on in good visibility conditions but Fiesta fogs are made to look like candles in jam jars compared to some of the HID/Xenon headlights that people convert to or even standard merc/BMW.

Which are seriously blinding when youre going down a hill and they're coming up it yet they never seem to get pulled over for them...

Agreed, you hear that people should be, but I've never heard of anyone being ticketed. I use mine as DRLs cos people don't seem to be able to see my likkle car.

Same, I don't know anybody that's ever been cautioned over fog lights. A few mates have been done for number plates and tinted windows but that's it

What about some of these new cars (VW's and Mercs) that switch on the relevant fog light when turning. Like a cheaper way of doing adaptive lighting. Surely it's similar to this?

If you look at a lot of them they have split lenses and two bulbs.
