I finally got round to doing starter on the fiesta and wile i was under there i had a quick look at my overheating issue which is that the fan wont kick in. So i disconnected the fan an direct wired it to a seperate 12 volt battery and there was nothing.

Is this fan a serviceable item or is it time for me to be buying a new fan?

    I think it's time to visit a breakers or look for a replacement on Amazon/eBay etc. Probably not worth opening it up - if you did, you would probably need to get hold of a part such as brushes etc.
