Diesel Engines ?

Featured Replies

hi

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to see where your engine was built and who by, for instance by peugeot or a Ford engine?

I've heard a lot that some diesel engines are built by peugeot but seeing that Fords Dagenham build over 50% of Diesel engines and have just reached 40'000'000 engine milestone it had me thinking.

I know friends who work for Fords Dagenham and asked if mine would have been built there and they said yes , apparently there is a ford stamp on the engine if it is ,but I don't think it can be seen without getting dirty.

would ford etis tell me?

1.6 tdci DPF

cheers

As far as i know, the 1.8 is the only diesel of primary ford design... Its based on the old endura engine. The 1.6 and 2.0 are a peugeot and ford collabaration. Not sure where they are built though...

It is a joint venture but I wouldn't have thought Ford would simply drop the PSA Group (Peugeot/Citroen) HDI engines into their cars without tinkering first - I would assume Ford produce the engines for their cars themselves, working with the same basic block and components that Peugeot would be using.

The engine is used by Ford, Peugeot, Citroen, Mazda, Volvo and BMW for the Mini so it's more than likely built under licence around the world.

The engines are built to PSAs design by Ford
