Click Wheel On Wiper Stick??

Featured Replies

I have had my new Fiesta for a couple of months now and I still haven't got a clue what the click wheel on the inside the the wiper stick does?

Anyone know?

I believe someone said it adjusts the speed of the wipers on the middle setting I think it was?

Close, adjusts the frequency of how often the wipe on the intermittent setting

Also when you are using intermittent wipe and you stop, the car automatically slows the wipers down until you move the accelerator pedal.

I was under the impression that it adjusted the sensitivity of the rain sensor (in auto position). This seems to be the case, as in auto, if the wipers aren't sweeping and there is just a little water on the screen then a notch on the wheel causes one swipe. I must read the manual again !

It does but only if you have auto wipers.

True.

I don't think it makes any difference when it chucks it down, the wipers don't speed up

To clarify:

  • If you have standard wipers the wheel adjusts the frequency of wiping (ie how often)
  • If you have auto wipers it adjusts the sensitivity of the sensor (ie how much rain on the window before it wipes)
