Autoglym'd The Fiesta!

Featured Replies

Spent the best part of the weekend giving my Fiesta the Autoglym treatment, and thought I would show you the results!

  1. Washed with Autoglym Bodywork Shampoo (3 times)
  2. Clayed with Meguiars clay and Autogym detailer spray
  3. Polished with AG Super Resin Polish (New Formula) using AG disposable cotton cloth
  4. Left overnight to cure
  5. Buffed off with AG Hi-Tech Finishing MicrofibreCloth
  6. Waxed with AG Extra Gloss Protection applied using AG disposable cotton cloth
  7. Left to cure for an hour
  8. Buffed off with AG Hi-Tech Finishing Microfibre Cloth

Same process for painted trim and alloys.

It's removed or filled the swirl marks really well so you can't see them unless you're up real close in full sunlight. Also the paintwork has a lovely glassy feel to it that's ultra smooth to the touch (this is what the clay does). The painwork has a really glassy reflective look and it really brings out pure white of the paint. Really pleased.

Thats looking rather tidy mate. Well done. Was it worth all the effort lol? I need to get round to claying mine.

Preparation is definitely the key, if a job's worth doing it's worth doing properly!

Hint with the clay - get it into a ball then put it in the microwave for about 20 secs max. It makes it a lot easier to flatten out and work with. You only need a palm-sized amount. I then remold it into a ball after I've finished each panel to get a clean bit of clay, then microwave it again. Don't be afraid to apply pressure when rubbing it across the car, you wont scratch it provided you spray lots of detailer lubricant to the surface you're working on before you start to clay. Takes a bit of effort but removes all the tiny bits of dirt that washing alone can't remove, leaving you with an ultra smooth surface on which to polish and wax.

Once it's all done properly, the wax should repel dirt or make it easier to wash off what does stick to the paintwork, and the Autoglym Shampoo is mild enough not to remove all your hard work!

I not long waxed my focus with the turtle wax black box

This was the result:

But due to all the hedges n trees around my drive it was quickly filthy again. Need to do it again soon but looks like it's gonna be raining on n off this week.

Think I'll use the black box another time then get a claying kit for the next time.

Looking good, but i'd like to point out - AG Extra gloss protection is NOT a wax. It is a sealent. AG HD wax would be the product for waxing the car.

It still contains waxes though, as well as resins and oils.

HD Wax looks is a very premium product with a premium price tag - £44.99! I think the above combination is good enough.

Looks good mate! When you say you left the Super Resin Polish to cure over night do you mean literally? All swirly and such?? That's an awful long time to leave a polish on.

Just thinking I would've washed the car again before waxing as dust would've settled on the car overnight and then gets rubbed into your freshly corrected paint :( think of the swirls!!

I didn't park it near moving traffic so it was fine, although I had to wait for the sun

to evaporate the morning condensation before I could buff off! The neighbours probably thought someone vandalised it during the night!

I applied the EGP straight after buffing off the SRP.

Ah I see, It's a wicked rewarding feeling afterwards isn't it. Until you drive it down the road and find a bit of dirt :P
