Hello i have recently taken a 1.4 x reg zetec engine and put it in a w reg 1.25 zetec. I have a few problems with it and any help would be appreciated.

the radiator fan is constantly on

the temp guage does not work

Putting your foot down and pulling of the acceleration is quite jittery

It is misfiring (plug ht leada and coil pack are fine

Any help would be appreciated.

    I am no expert but I would imagine that the ECU is engine specific and needs to be changed or reprogrammed to suit the different engine capacity.

    I agree, the ECU is set up for different parameters and is being confused by sensor readings it's not programmed to handle.

    Tbh I'm surprised it's running at all.

    Sorry. i forgot to mention that i changed the ecu and barrel with the black ring around it that is compstable with the engine.

    It's one option to look at.

    There's only 3 reasons to get a misfire, bad or mis-timed spark, bad compression or over/under fuelling.

    The plug are sparking fine and the engine before the swap was running perfect. checked the fuel linea ect so i will be swapping the fuel pump tkmorow. will reply back with results. thank you.
