Doors Locked!!! Doesnt Open!

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I have a fiesta mk7 09 zetec 3dr

tried to go out today and driver door doesn't open, tried locking then unlocking using the key. Had to jump in from passenger door which thankfully opened!

drivers side doesn't open from inside either.

is there anything else I can try at home? Don't really have time to go to ford garage :( let alone pay the extortion prices they bound to charge

It sounds like your lock solenoid has gone or the fuse is blown

Appreciate the snappy response

Easy/expensive fix ?

I'd check the fuses first, if you have your owners manual it'll tell you fuse locations & values.

If you can get to them I'd check the door wiring and connectors.

If they are all ok then it's a garage I'm afraid.

Looking at Haynes I don't think it will be a fuse as the whole system looks like it is on the same one. Faulty lock solenoid as previously suggested is the likely culprit.

lool on the way home from work i tried again, no luck, so climbed in through passenger door, drove to garage, opened drivers door expecting my face to smack into the window but it OPENED!!!!! :D

have no idea what is goin on, but it opened!!!!

Car's have a habit of fixing themselfs when near the garage

Look for a loose connection in the door lock wiring.

Sometimes water can get between the glass and sill rubbers causing the door electrics to get wet.

My old Mk1 Focus used to lock itself in wet weather for the same reason.

Check the sill rubbers for perishing and replace if needed.
