mk1 1.8 focus locking problem

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a mk1 (2000) 1.8 focus. Noticed when its cold only the drivers door unlocks, with the fob or manually. I have to slam the door shut to make the other doors respond. Recently its got worse and now the remote fob will not lock all doors. You can hear the other 3 doors locking but then unlocking straight away. I then have to lock the car manually with the key. It doesn't seem so bad when the weather is warmer.

What will it be thats failing/sticking in the door?

Cheers

Mine does same but doesn't make any difference if the weathers hot or cold. I just use the key all the time but would like to get it sorted. Mines same year and same engine.

Sounds like a sensor on the drivers door?

When the drivers door is ajar, you can lock the car, all doors lock, and unlock straight away.

The fact that you have to slam the door to make the other doors respond sounds like that kinda thing... Dodgy sensor?

No Signs of the 'Door open' Warning light on the dash when driving?
