Engine Fan

Featured Replies

Last couple of times I've switched the engine off I've notice the fan going for a few mins, what does this mean?

Just cooling down, as your 1.6 TDCi has a DPF fitted if it's been doing a regen cycle (to burn off the soot) it gets extremely hot (that's why the manual tells you never to park over dry leaves!) and your fan will keep going for a few mins after the engine has stopped to cool everything down.

My 1.4 petrol does it too sometimes, especially in the summer. I've had other cars that did it, mainly VW's for some reason.

Mine does the same (TDCI, non-dpf). Sometimes it's for 10-20 secs, other times for minutes. Hasn't caused any problems though.
