Hi,

I'm thinking of replacing my 2001 Focus with an ill gearbox for either a 1.4 or 1.6 TDCI Fiesta Titanium. My only concern with going for the 1.6 is they all appear to come with a DPF fitted and from what I hear they can cause no end of problems depending on the typical journeys. My commute is generally 15-25 minutes each way generally 30/60 mph split at about 70/30, it would also get a weekly 15 minute run up the A1 once a week and a 6 hour A1 run roughly every 3 months.

What are your experiences with the Fiesta DPF? Would my journey's keep it clear? Is the Fiesta fitted with a DPF warning light so if it did start getting blocked I could take it for a run before it would need replacing?

Cheers

The DPF was fitted to the 1.6 TDCi [95] engine only which was produced March 2010 onwards (ie a 58/09/59 plate Fiesta would have the older 1.6 TDCi [90] engine without DPF) - the 1.4 never had one fitted AFAIK

Your journeys sound fine to me, with or without a DPF. DPF's only cause trouble when little old Maureen uses it only twice a week to drive 1 mile at less than 30mph to Tesco and the engine never gets to full (operating) temperature and clogs up with soot.

Joe Bloggs driving 10 miles to work and back on A roads should be fine.

That's the answer I was hoping for, thanks!
