Diesel Smell

Featured Replies

hello all

i need a bit of help, my fiesta 09 1.4 smells of diesel, when stationary it comes in through the vents. if you lift the bonnet it really is a strong smell like unburnt diesel (straight from the pump) ive also noticed my fuel consumption seems to be reduced. i took it to the garage yesterday and they "forgot" to look at it(never use bristol street motors). any ideas ?

thanks Tom

Hi Tom,

Sorry to inform you, it sounds like a leaking injector,

Start the engine and open the bonnet, you will hear a low ticking noise where the injector is trying to pump but not getting where it needs to go, id get this sorted fast as leaking injector puts unburnt oil in to cylinder causing dpf,egr and turbo failure if not caught early,

You will also see the leak from the injector seal or filter,

Hi Tom, as Leonard says, it indeed sounds like injector issues.

There are lots of horror stories about the problem, lots ov clips on youtube ford and citroen use this engine.

Get it checked asap.

Sorry to bring bad news.

Cheers

Marrtin

the 1.4 is well known for the injector seals failing so check these first.

Hi guys. I'm from South Africa. Just got my 2007 Fiesta 1.6tdci last week. Great car puts a smile on my face every time boost kicks in.

Does the 1.6 TDCi also have these common issues with injector seals? So far I could not find much info on the net about the 1.6 version.

as far as i know its only the 1.4 that has has the seal problem.
