Ford Focus Diagnostic Software

Featured Replies

I am after some diagnostic software for the wifes 08 plate focus (sometimes fails to start straight away, engine spins but not fire, pressing accelerator pedal appears to help - no check engine light)

Anyways, on the bay of e, spotted this.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-USB-Automatic-ECU-Scan-Ford-VCM-OBD-IDS-Vehicles-Diagnostic-Programmer-/190809622696?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item2c6d23c8a8

Any thoughts on this bit of kit or even the seller. Any bad comments please send a PM.

Cheers

John

friend of mine had this, [no idea if it was same source]

had a little tinker with it for him on his fiesta...was quite impressed.

bit of advice, if your new to diagnostic software, dont be tempted to play with reprogramming/coding etc till you know exactly what your doing...ive had 2 customers who managed to completely wipe ecu's by pressing wrong buttons and have heard a few more doing the same.

Hi thanks for the reply. Any chance of finding out it it was from the same source?

i'm not planning on recoding anything just yet - but cheers for the warning.

can find out, but dont think it was ebay....will be seeing him tomorrow [poor fellah just been burgaled, thinks a spare key for vw has been taken, got to try reprogramming everything to render that stolen key useless, but not before tipping the house upside down to be sure its gone}

Just wondering, did you get chance to find out about the diagnostic software?

sorry bud, forgot to reply.

wasnt purchased from ebay, was given to him by work colleague who no longer needed it as he is back on the bikes.. he purchased it from a diagnostic equipment supplier, though cant remember who.

the kit is the same, but doesnt necessarily mean the software is, so worth asking questions of what the software with this is capable of

Poor starting on the 1.8 either a faulty cell in the battery garage will check for free or wrong type of battery if not a genuine ford one should be silver calcium or a collapsed hose on the rear of the throttle body plugs needing changed ignore the 60k interval they need done before then faulty idle control valve if you get any vibration at idle a failing coil pack there the main points before buying software that may not point you in the direction you neef
