Ford Fiesta Automatic Gear Box - Creep Function?

Featured Replies

Hi, I've just purchased the new shape ford fiesta zetec with auto gear box. I'm waiting for it to be delivered from another dealership. I need to know if anyone can tell me if these automatics 'creep' when in traffic or or a hill etc. I did a test drive but stupidly didn't pay attention to if it crept or not. I'm really hoping it does!

Thats a good question. The new fiesta features the powershift gearbox which is an "automated manual", not a true automatic - apparently.

I'm pretty sure you're the first new fiesta member with an auto (that I've noticed anyway), so this hasn't cropped up yet - hopefully someone with another powershift equipped Ford will come along and help.

Be sure to post pics when it arrives and tell us what you think of the gearbox too.

if a true auto, then yes, but if a manual/auto, then as long as auto is selected. yes

It will still creep, yes. Haven't driven a Ford powershift, but drove Peugeot's equivalent at work and they feel the same as a full auto.

I thought the auto/manual boxes were called durashift not power shift? Or am i wrong? it drives like a fully automatic but I just didn't pay attention to the creep function! Will def test drive one more time when it arrives in hopefully tomorrow. I think the 'creep' is essential for hill starts and slow moving traffic, couldn't live without it now! Thanks for your replies, please let me know if you find out anything more.

I'm sure I could be the first auto driver on here! i know its uncommon. All my family drive autos - must be in the blood! Lol. Although I drive a manual c-max at work (I'm a nanny). I just prefer automatic for myself :)

I drive auto too, but I have the precious fiesta which probably is durashift, but the new facelift auto fiesta is the "6 speed twin clutch automated manual Powershift"

Ah right, I didn't spot that earlier as I was viewing the forum on my phone.

In that case you'll have a 4 speed like mine - it does have creep as you'd expect - extremely handy indeed :)

My wife's 2009 fiesta is a four speed conventional Automatic and it does creep forward ..
