Mystery Pipe On 2004 Fiesta Engine

Featured Replies

Hi all, Im new here but hope you can help me.

(2004 Fiesta 1.25 LX, 5 door)

I topped up my engine oil the other day and noticed a pipe (with 'eco' written on it) hanging loose from the engine. I plugged it back in and it hasnt fallen out since (a few weeks). it does not 'click' back in or anything but seems to be ok now. I'm worried some damaged could have been inflicted on my engine whilst the pipe was out however. I dont know how long it was out for either, could be anywhere between a week and a few months.

What is this mystery pipe? thanks in advance.

here is a pic:

It seems to be the oil breather pipe. It's connected to your big air box and uses the air that comes through your induction pipe to cool the oil in the engine :)

Give it a sniff and you will tell whats down there.

thanks guys. last weekend I got the orange engine warning light on my dashboard, (it is still there and I'm getting it checked on tuesday). this appeared about 3 weeks after I had plugged this pipe back into the engine. are these events connected in any way? Maybe I should take it out again!

cheers

Engine management light doesn't normally come because of that. I have my air box off and had that oil breather pipe disconnected to nothing for about a month till I could be bothered to get a mini breather filter off eBay and attach it to it to cool the oil and stuff.

not related to managment light.

and tim, its just a breather mate, doesnt cool oil, it just lets the engine breathe through the air box so those fumes are then recycled and burnt out through the exhaust to improve emmissions, not to cool the oil.

I see thanks wase :)

no problem....knowledge is power as the saying goes :)
