Fiesta Mk3 Please Help

Featured Replies

I have a Mk3 1995 Fiesta 1.3 ghia auto, I have 2 transponder keys no red master key, both keys worked fine. Last week I went to use my car but it wouldn't unlock, tried both keys both locks! I can get in through the boot however this did set the alarm off! Once in through the boot tried starting the car - nothing happens! The lights work and the electric windows work so the battery is not dead! What else could this be? Please help.

Do the doors unlock then lock again straight away?

  • Author

No they won't unlock at all! They worked fine the day before!

Possibly a fuse blown if its just affecting the doors?

  • Author

Checked all the fuses they're all fine! The engine won't start either!

Have a look at your keys are they excessively worn?

  • Author

No they're not, the car has only done 28,000 miles I'm the second owner it's barely been used! Surely both keys wouldn't die overnight! Could they?!

Been having a look about online for you and this is the best answer ive found so far: Seem to get a few of these and really the only lasting cure I have found is to replace the latch assembly and the internal locking cable as a unit. The mechanism inside the latch is made of flimsy materials and wears to the point where there isnt enough movement on the keylock to get the lock to undo. If you peer through the window at the inside door handle while turning the key you will see that the locking lever doesnt quite move enough to let it unlatch. Doesnt take long and because its a henry the bits are usually on the shelf and not expensive.

Gona have a look to see if this can affect the car starting
