Average Speed Wrong On Trip Computer

Featured Replies

We have a 2006 Ford Focus 1.8TDCi Zetec(Euro 4 Climate), and have a quick question. When driving on motorway last week, after about an hour of driving at mainly 70mph, the trip computer said average speed was 16mph. Any idea what it could be?

That willl be an average of your total driving since you reset your trip computer

I reset the 'miles done' after I got Diesel from garage, which was about 10 minutes before I started driving on motorway.

Miles done doesn't reset the other read outs. You need to hold in the button on each display to reset them individually.

Agreed with jg321, for its benefits and bad sides' each display is independent and will require resetting.

Shaun,,,,,with the average speed you have to bare in mind the times you are stationary at traffic lights and junctions while the engine is running before you set of from filling it up and resetting etc, basicaly all the time the engine is running as well as the hour driving on the motorway, are taken into account with the average.

Its suprising how low the ave speed actualy is with all these times included
