Advice With Gear Change Problem

Featured Replies

Hi peeps.

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this small problem or if anyone else has the same. My fiesta is a mk6 1.4 and only done 16,000 miles. Full servcie history. The problem im having is trying to shift from 1st into 2nd. Theres a slight resistance. It does change but not overly easy. All other gears change with no problem and it changes from 1st to 2nd when stationary with the engine running or not.

Any ideas

P.S also no cluth slip or drag either , hmmmmmm

Mine does this to mate but mine is a 53 plate with 85000 miles, I set off slow so I can get 2nd smoothly because if I set off fast there's a resistance like you said

Hi Jamie. Funny you should say that but if I slowly pull away it does change a lot easier. I tried the 2nd gear pull away with the hand brake on tonight and it stalled so def not the clutch. Sounds like a slight fault on some of the fiesta

I have issues with my 2009 1.4 TDCi gearbox, getting 3rd sometimes is a nightmare. I think it is a design flaw with the gearbox Ford use.
