This is probably going to sound stupid, so apologies in advance :)

But will the vents from a MK2 (05-10) fit a MK1 (98-04)

Reason I'm asking is that the vents in the mk1 are terrible IMO, I'd like to fit a vent mounted phone cradle, but due to the shape, it doesn't fit properly

    Doubt it. Take a photo and upload and will take a look. the mk2 vents are oval in shape.

    They're different shapes and sizes and are not interchangeable. Sorry.

    as stoney said they are totally different and wouldnt fit tried that one when i had the mk1

    Why dont you try brodit clips, they fit by clips utilising gaps in your dash...like the gap between radio surround and dash.
