What Do You Think?

Featured Replies

Well we've had the Focus for about 2 months now and we both like it a lot BUT Mrs Turvey doesn't think it's big enough! Story of my life  :D :D :D

Anyway there's a C-max being sold privately locally that's caught her eye.

24000 miles, T&T til next March. They've had it for sale for about a month but seems very cheap at £5250 ono

What do you guys think? Is it worth the hassle etc just for the extra space?

I've just gotten used to being in a 'normal' car again after years of people carriers and quite like it. Failing that, anyone want to buy an '05 Focus Zetec with less than 40,000 on the clock?

my C-mer is great to drive and really doesnt feel any bigger in driving than my ceed or focus. question is... why sell for so little? either its a CAT D writeoff, or its possibly got a problem thats soon going to happeen

Thats my suspicious side, otherwise it could be a great but undervalued car!

Well it looks very nice,(even the right color!) and is half the age of your present car (so you would be "moving forward" in that respect) and if space / practicality is important.... (perhaps not every day but its there if you need it) - obviously check the car/ seller out, (mechanically, but also HPI etc) but at that price even if the DMF "goes" you would still be "quids in"

Ask them if it comes with a second key (the clincher/ deal breaker  )

According to etis it's a 1.6 petrol. Do they have/are they affected by the DMF problems? Just showing my ignorance now :D

Also, according to etis as well, it only came with one key. And no spare tyre  But it does have heated washer jets :D

As I understand it, it is only diesel that has DMF, as DMF is the Dual Mass Flywheel, which rotates counter actively to reduce the effect of the diesel engine vibration.

It is of some debate if the petrol C-MAX has a DMF: -

http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/36314-dual-mass-flywheel/

but many petrol cars are fitted with DMFs, the company that supplied my SMF & carbon fiber/ kevlar clutch does conversion kits (DMF to solid flywheel) for the (petrol) Focus mk1 ST170, Focus mk2 ST225, Mondeo mk3 ST220

A DMF in a petrol car is less liable to give trouble because of the reduced torque and more progressive power/ torque delivery of a petrol engine realativ to a diesel
