Focus Steering Problem

Featured Replies

For some time now when travelling in my 07 Focus at main road speeds, I constantly have to give the steering wheel a very gentle nudge to keep the car in lane. The tyre pressures are per book, a change of tyres had no effect and the wheel alignment has been checked twice and is
correct.

As it has passed every MOT without problem the suspension must be ok.

Any ideas?

Is the steering wheel straight?

Camber of the road or the road isn't perfectly straight?

Sometimes even a very small groove in the road or a slight dip can produce tramlining like symptoms.

Also have you check your track rod ends? Maybe one of them is slightly bent?

Start off with the basics, and check the wheel alignment and tracking. You can get this done dirt cheap at independant wheel / tyre companies specifically.

Hi Thanks for advice. As I am not a techie so probably did not explain myself well. All of the above points have been checked with nothing incorrect showing.

If you pop over to some relatively empty car parks and point your car forward and drive, does it swing one way or the other?
