Turbo Gone On 2006 1.6Tdci Focus

Featured Replies

Hi my turbo stopped working the other day, no smoke or anything, just the loss of power

there is now a noise (metal rattling noise) and no power

I have been told this kit of ebay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peugeot-Citroen-Ford-Mazda-1-6L-110HP-GT1544V-Turbocharger-rebuild-repair-kit-/221209983831?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3381247b57)

could be used to repair the turbo, has anyone any experience is using such a kit ? or have any other recommendations

thanks

I recommend you find out what is wrong - eg read the OBD11 codes etc, rather than assuming its the turbo - it may be something else, and even if it is the turbo, there are things that can go wrong that that repair kit cannot fix (sheared or siezed shafts, damaged impellers etc, etc)

I seem to remember something about the oilways in the cylinder head that cause the Peugeot 1.6 engine to knock out the turbo.

This. As I understand it, they usually "go" for a reason, so you need to address the root cause as well as fixing the turbo. My sister lost two turbos (the second one within a couple of weeks of the first!) on a 130K 90bhp 1.6 a few years back, presumably because of an underlying problem.

Well documented problems with these cars as stated above. No way of anyone here knowing for sure but try a Google search 'focus 1.6tdci turbo issues' and sit down lol.

You should replace the oil feed if you swap the turbo, I posted a link to eBay in the other recent poat about turbo issues.

just search for 1.6 tdci oil feed, its £100.
