Would anyone recommend changing the original air filter (due for replacement) with an aftermarket or branded e.g. K&N etc. one?

Cost issues aside, what are the pros and cons of doing so?

    Pros -

    1. will increase peformance if you get the car remapped

    2. will last a few years.

    Cons -

    1. will decrease performance until your car is remapped

    2. will allow more particles into the engine for combustion so will gradually allow quicker engine wear,

    3. the oil coating on the filter may cause issues with AFM sensor

    4. costs more than a standard paper filter
