Is it possible to fit a turbo for a 1.4 litre ford sigma petrol engine at all...?

Think about the Fiat 500 abarth SS that's a 1.4 petrol engine with a turbo init which sounds mental!

Everything is possible, just sometimes not worth it.

What power is the 1.4 naturally?

Power output is 75 or 80 BHP

And the Torque is 91.

If you want to go OEM sort of look and spec, you'd probably get to about 110bhp, more performance orientated you're looking at 130 - 140bhp.

Yeah turbo charging can be done. I can do it for ya. You wont get big power numbers tho unless you spend big on internals. Personally I would convert it to bike throttle bodies raise the compression and youd get similar figures and it would be more drive-able

Iv'e just been re reading on my subject gang... I'm not sure if it's possible or neither not worth doing it. But I wish there was a way of doing it without effecting my insurance!

I once watched a youtube video on a guy refitting a sport air filter in which he able to have more power output to his engine!

Only thing you could do is a Green Cotton/K&N/etc air filter. Would maybe give you one or two extra bhp. Other than that, i'm not sure if weight stripping is declarable to insurers. Take out the rear seats, radio etc to save weight and get a bit more performance, which obviously isn't ideal.

If you have a spare wheel and breakdown cover, you can always take out the spare wheel, and call the breakdown service if you get a puncture.

Other than that, next year at insurance renewal time, just try and get a few quotes with an upgraded exhaust / remap etc. It may not be as much as you'd think, especially with specialist insurers like Adrian Flux.

But TBH, if you're looking at seriously modding a car purely for performance, you're probably better off selling your car and buying an ST. It may well be cheaper depending on what you do to it, and chances are insurance will be less too as it's unmodified.

I really do like my car a lot! I'm just generally asking for yes/no theories on performance my sigma engine!

I'm gonna keep the car for the next 3 years because I'm using it for work 4 days a week and get the best MPG in it while using a app for my iphone :) because I don't have a trip comp. :( The last thing I like to have a go at is fitting a ST Spoiler on it before selling it...

Plenty of ST spoilers available on Ebay and very easy to fit
