What Is This Reflector Type Thing In My Headlight And Where Can I Get Another?

Featured Replies

Me again...

Gone to change the bulbs but noticed one side was different to the other.

It looks like a glass enclosure thing that the bulb goes into.

Here is a pic of what it is with it, the centre piece bit.

Thank you!

It has the slot that the other side has, on the side with the lens bit it has a supporting arm holding it there- something the side without does not have!

Both sides should have then, they're the diffusers for your dipped lights.

Without them you'd basically be constantly driving around on full beam whenever your lights are on.

Oh right, where can I get one from?

Thanks for identifying!

Been searching the net and cannot find anything! Ford parts closed at 1 =/

Would be the full headlight unit I believe you'd need to buy

The right hand side light with the missing diffuser? Thats a brand new one you'll probs be able to get a second hand one cheaper somewhere

  • Author

Yes it is the right hand side one.

I have had a look at the two on and I cannot see a huge difference. Would it pass the MOT like this? I mean it took me ages to even notice it!

You can see a big difference when you have them on and then you put the full beam on as if you was flashing someone, there doesn't seem to be much difference between the two lights!

Thanks for the help :)

Also do you have any idea why the other side would not have the diffuser on? Doesn't look like it has fallen out or anything

It should technically fail an MOT as it would blind on coming drivers

Someone must have damaged it before hand

  • Author

Thanks, nothing else looks damaged! Guess its just one of them things, it doesn't seem blinding from me looking at it but it is obviously there for a reason.

Is there no way of just replacing the thing?

Thanks!

I'm thinking the darker one now

Couldnt tell you mate you'll need to decide looking at your own lights. if you can get the diffuser it usually just clips into position. I knocked mine out of my old set of lights when i was replacing the bulbs and managed to get it back in ok

  • Author

Thanks mate, might be worth ringing around the scrap yards!

Any other places that might have it?

  • Author

Just to finish this topic, the lights are the same colour. One is better quality that is all!

Ended up getting it for £70 and fitted!

Thanks for the help!
