Disable Auto Wipers On Fiesta 2010 1.6 Titanium

Featured Replies

Please can anyone help me to disable my auto wipers so they become intermittent manual wipers?

They do work occasionally, but not often or quickly enough, no matter what level of sensitivity I put them at. I've tried cleaning around the sensor, driving in rain to gauge sensitivity, shouting at them and threatening them with an early bedtime.

I've read many threads on this, from removing fuses (hmmm) to putting a hosepipe on them before I set off on a journey(!).

I've tried lots, re-read my owner's manual and googled 'wipers' so many times it's now considered x-rated on Google.

Please help, this is a serious question and I don't want to shout at my car anymore, he's a good boy really.

lol, welcome to the family Bo, and it sounds like an interesting canundrum.

The easiest answer is ELM Config and a modified ELM 327 cable. If I recall correctly, there is a switch that you can set on the PCM that disables auto wipers :)

Otherwise, you can remove the fuse, but I dont believe that the fuse is only for the auto but the entire wiper...

Whilst its a long old read, have a skim read over this thread: http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/31287-guide-for-focus-mk2mk25-c-maxkuga-elm-327-cable-and-ff2-program/ a lot of us have this cable and set of tools and they are an excellent piece of kit...

Many thanks James,

I called into my Ford dealership today asking the wiper question while offering to throw wads of cash at them (naked if necessary).

Bless them, they sat me in my car and whilst using words of no more than 2 syllables explained how the auto wipers work, that they couldn't be disabled, never, ever, don't try, you'll burn in hell if you attempt it. (Maybe not their actual terminology).

I really appreciate your help and will have an avid read of the link.

Yours, always

Bo

hopefully it wont cause you too many problems, but as far as I remember it can be turned off :) I could be wrong, but without digging out the virtual PC and taking a look I cant say for definite.
