Position Of Aux Port...2009 Focus

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I've been doing a bit of research on this, and what I've found is really quite stupid (if I'm correct that is). I'm the proud new owner of a 2009 Focus Zetec S 1.8. It has the power adapter on the centre console (by the gear stick), then another power adapter actually inside the centre console (were you rest your arm whilst driving). But there is no USB or Aux jack in there.

So I went hunting around and found that the aux jack is in the glovebox. What is the point in having the aux jack in the glovebox but the socket were you would charge your MP3 in the centre console? It makes absolutely no sense to me. Or am I missing something?

Thanks guys,

Kev

Ford do tend to be a bit random at times.

Most MK2.5 cars do have an aux in the armrest tray but obviously yours is one of the kooky ones that doesn't.

You can put one there if you need to, just buy an aftermarket aux connector and run it to the armrest from the radio.

If you find the cable isn't quite long enough just splice in some more cable or find a socket extender (Socket to plug or socket to socket).

Just leave the original cable in place but unplug it from the radio connector (quadlock) and replace it with the aftermarket one.

Thanks for the info Stoney, and the quick reply. Very strange setup - lovely car though.

I'll give that a try. For £7 I can't really go wrong can I.

Kev

Best of luck with it bud.

Be sure that if you are needing to unplug your radio to get the old aux connector out of the quadlock that you have your radio code to hand.

Any problems with the installation, give me a shout.

I did wonder the same!!

Doesn't bother, got a long enough cable for it to follow around the trim panels in the footwell.

I'm trying to secure one of those suction mounts to the front of the box...but noting will stick the plate to the plastic :-( - no doubt because it's made of polypropylene.

Rear view mirror sticky pads work quite well, they pretty much stick to anything.

If you really want to secure something like a phone mount or similar you could always modify one and screw it on.

Hadn't thought of those!!

I'll give that a bash later.

Thanks Stoney
