Dash And Airbag Compatibility

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I have just bought a 2008 facelift focus with some damage to the front and need to fit a new dash, airbags and seatbelt pretensioners,i have sourced all I need from a 2006 car and have been told that it is the same by one guy and that its not the same by another, i'd like to be sure before going for them as its a 150 ml round trip, does anyone know if they are definitely the same or must I get them from the later car???? They do look to be the same but not 100% about the wiring plugs and if the steering wheel bag will be the same so it will fit my wheel, any help would be great.

Gary

The shape of the dashboard is completely the same but the colour of the grey lower plastic parts (which are integrated into the dashboard) are a little bit different.

The MK2 and MK2.5 airbags are electronically a bit different but if you change the RCM (Restraints Control Module) also it will work without any problems.

It is also possible to use the RCM which is currently mounted into the car but then you need to reconfigure it for the different airbags and reset it because there was a crash detected (the airbag lamp will be lighting up constantly if the module has not been reset after a crash).

Thanks for the reply JW1982, resetting the module is not a problem, I've done loads of them, was more worried about the fitting but its good to here they will fit,( I've seen them listed as 05-08 and 08-11 but if its just colour and its not too far off it may do ok), might have to get a look at an undamaged one closer to home to see how different the colour is before committing to the drive, thanks for the info, been a great help.
