How To Disable Seat Belt Reminder On Ford Focus Mk2.5

Featured Replies

I have read many how-to's, but neither one is for mk2.5

I can always go to dealer, and ask them to do it, but I wouold realy like to do it asap

I always put my seat belt, safety first, like I ask every passanger to do it, but as I have a dog, sometimes this alarm on parking lot makes me go crasy, and I would realy like to put it off

Do you know any trick how?

When I turn ignition ON, I do not have seat belt light/warning

It turns on only if I drive

I will give it a try, anyway, thanks

Or buy one of these.

I have one and it works a treat.

I do not like this gadget, makes it very unsafe if you are used to it :)

The easiest way to disable the seatbelt reminder is to switch it off with an ELM327 interface and the ELMconfig software. This way you can choose to disable the audible warning, the warning light or both.

The described procedure with the seat belt buckle does not work for everey Focus MK2.

I used to have Focus mk2, now I have mk2.5

On previous Focus I managed to kill reminder, but with mk2.5 I cannot

I know about the ELM327, but I do not have one...

I disabled it in my mk2.5 using the elm cable as mentioned above, ot can be done with an ordinary unmodified elm cable,

That was until I found out that its an mot failure to have the warning turned off hence why I turned it back on

It is??

I turned off the audible warning with elm327 and my car went in for MOT a while after. It sailed through with no advisories

i was told that the warning light would need to be functional, all i can find is the pretensioner warning must be working, which i presume is the same as the seat belt warning (i dont remember or know of a warning symbol for a pretensioner)

Ah i've left the warning light on but just turned the bonger off

the warning light is a safety featyre and is required for the mot dogs must now wear a seatbelt harness if in the seats so that plugged in would switch it off it also invalidates youre insurance having any safety feature switched off

So only the warning light is part of the mot but the audible warning isnt?

light must be on not the bong though
