Eggy Smell..

Featured Replies

Hi all my mate has a st focus 57 reg only has around 26k on the clock. He doesnt drive it that often but on the last 2 journeys he has noticed an eggy smell coming from the car mainly the vents.

What do you guys think it could be?

Nakered cat? Or is it just cus he dont drive it that often.

Sounds like a manky pollen filter.

Sometimes also you'll get a build up of bacteria in the vent system if the car is sat for a while.

He could try a can of vent cleaner from Halfords and see how he goes.

the washer bottle is a common problem, people would stick a hose in and try and rinse most of it out then they stick a Milton tablet (sterilising tablet) in

Lol no !Removed!.... Well not that we could see!!!!!

Start off with the pollent filter as suggested by Stoney, also pop to your local euro car parts, and buy an air vent cleaner 'bomb' car on, fans on full power with recirculation, close all doors and windows, set off the bomb and leave it, this clears any bacteria from anywhere else in the system, costs about a tenner from Euro Car Parts, and its exactly the same thing Ford can be seen charging about £40 for...
