Horn Issues?

Featured Replies

hi. not sure what to make of this... was on motorway this aft, and was cut up by a prat in an audi, so blasted the horn at him, but as soon as I had done it, it went from sounding normal to seeming to lose the low end 'grunt' it used to have. its like there were 2 horns with differing pitchs, and ones failed? it now sounds tinny and high pitched. still works, but sounds wrong. is it easy to get these things off, and can they be repaired, or is it a vist to the breakers yard...

Im on my phone so cant see what mk it is but the mk1 and mk 2 etc has it tucked behind the front bumper they are easy to remove 1 10mm bolt and the wires are just plugged in you cant repair them so its a trip to the scrappies if you remove the pass headlight and look to the left you should see it

Had the same problem one of mine packed up on my mondy, making the horn sound so effeminate that I refused to use it, I cured mine with a pair of aftermarket ones from fleabay

its a mk2 2006 zetec. sounds easy pulling out the passenger light to get to it...

The Ford horns are two seperate pitch horns that blow together, it sounds like your meaty horn has gone. you could pick any up from a breakers for about 10 - 15 quid I would have thought. but dont take yours off until you have tried to rip it off the donor, in that case, if you brake anything, its not your car that you broke... :)
