So I've just bought myself a 2011 Colorado Red Fiesta Zetec S 1.6 TDCI. This has the standard radio inside. The other day whilst sitting in my new car sorting the radio out etc I noticed that it had DAB radio capabilities. I didn't realise that this was possible with the standard radio and assumed you could only get DAB with the Sony Head unit?

I'd previously installed a DAB radio with bluetooth in my older mk 5 fiesta and was disappointed when the garage said it would be a difficult and expensive job to fit the Sony DAB Radio. Whilst also mentioning to me that if I made the decision to swap my aftermarket DAB radio into my new car it would void my warranty on 'any' electrical failures down the line. (Extended 3 yr warranty came with the car).

Is this possible? Or is it something that the previous owner has done to achieve getting DAB this way.

Now pretty pleased as this has potentially saved me a lot of hassle and effort. I don't even think the garage was aware that this radio had DAB as they certainly didn't mention it to me.

The Ford DAB radio's Ex "Standard" are the new radio's they are fitting to younger trims. The Sony DAB Radio should be a direct swap. Try another dealer but, i couldn't see how this would void your warranty.

Many here have also switched from the Standard Ford Radio (non DAB) 08-11 to the Sony DAB Radio. I'm unsure if they ever got the DAB part to work. But USB thumb drive is excessively used on mine!
