I feel a bit stoopid asking but in case it's me being dumb before I take it to the garage I thought I would ask...............

I can't get the cap off! Coolant is below the min mark and engine cold. Not done anything since getting the car so first time trying.

It starts to turn then goes very stiff and refuses to turn any further like I am tightening it instead of undoing it but turning it the other way you can feel it against its stop. Start to undo it and it turns freely then quickly tightens up until it's impossible to turn it any more. I have tried everything in case it was me but just can't figure it out and don't want to damage it. How easy it should it be to get off?

    They can be quite stiff to get off especially if it hasnt been off before. It should unscrew anticlockwise ive had to use a set of water pump pliers on mine befoee

    I tried doing mine a while back just to check something but found the same as you, slight bit of movement then solid. The whole tank was twisting in its holders and I thought it was going to break, so I left it on and haven't tried again since!
