Looking To Buy A Focus, Have A Few Questions If That's Ok:

Featured Replies

Hi,

Hopefully will be posting a lot on here when I finally get a focus!

I'm looking to purchase one in the next few days and have a couple questions if that's ok. I am looking for a 12 plate new shape.

1 - Is there a big difference between the Edge and Zetec? I'm seeing around a £1,000 difference between the two.

2 - The car I'm looking at is 15k miles, 12 plate (reg may 12), 1 prev owner (business). It comes taxed for a year and a couple years left on warranty. Cost is £10,700. Is this a decent price? It's a Focus Zetec, official title is Focus 1.6 TI-VCT (105ps) Zetec 5dr Hatchback.

3 - Are there any questions I should be asking when I go to look at the car? Anything I should look out for in the log book? I've been driving an old'ish peugeot for 6 years and it's time for a change but I'm not the best with cars.

I appreciate any response.

Thanks!

A Zetec is a much better spec includes fog lights, sports seats and suspension and better radio amongst other things. Will also be much easier to sell a Zetec when it comes to it an edge is pretty basic in spec. Also worth noting the 105ps 1.6 is the slowest most underpowered engine in the range.

I bought my 1.6 (125) Zetec with extras at a year old /11k on it for £10,500 last year.

Thanks for the reply.

Well that's disheartening. I can't really find anything that much cheaper with decent mileage.

Also, does it make a huge difference (the power)? I'll just be doing basic errands and about once a month going down to London from the Midlands. But I guess in terms of fun of driving it will suffer. Ugh!

the 105ps ti vct is the underpowered version however its more than adequate for what you need and being the ti vct has plenty of low down pulling power take it for a test drive with the revs above 2100 rpm you can still have fun with it
