How Easy Is It To Fit Air Horns?

Featured Replies

Hello! Looking at this listing on ebay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180685397925?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Seems to be road legal and claims to be easy to install. Has anyone fitted anything like this and if so what do you have to do?

Thanks

Full Wiring instructions supplied

I fitted some, when I was going through my boy racer stage. It' was easy enough when I was 17, & involved a relay & a few lengths of wire & connectors. The only issue may be finding the room to fit them.

Great, were they alot louder?

Yes, a lot louder.

Done it now, not an easy job!

Had to remove the front left headlight, remove the old one and crimp the power wire to the other one....

Anyway finished now!

I bought one also, is it as easy as swapping the cables over?

Once you gain access to it, simply take the live wire and plug it into the new horn. The new horns need a neg from the other outlet, which you can just wrap around the bolt when you tighten. Then crimp the power so it leads to the other, do the same with the neg.

Must say not as loud as I was expecting!

Louder than the old one?

Can you video/record it?

Yeah louder and as it is two horns you can hear both which is pretty good, can do tomorrow

Good stuff :-)

Sounds more like a MEEP, higher pitched than a low BEEP

I fitted a pair of horns to mine as one of the OEM horns had stopped working and the other sounded so effeminate no-one took any notice,

They're so easy to do, just a piece of wire with a spade connector on one end and a ring connector on the other, put the spade on the negative terminal and the ring to earth, (Usually the mounting bolt for the horn), then use the positive feed from the old horn on the positive side and fasten to the original horn bracket and your done

I have to say those ebay dual horns do NOT look like air horns to me despite the wording? - They look like conventional electric snail horns.

Air horns that I used to fit in my younger days had a separate air pump - like this:
